What is sound healing?

Sound healing is a holistic practice that uses sound and vibration to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The practice is based on the idea that everything in the universe is made up of energy and that sound can be used to affect this energy, promoting healing and balance.

Sound healing can be done in various ways, some of the most common methods include:

  1. Singing bowls: These are hand-held bowls that are struck or played with a mallet to produce a soothing, resonant sound. The vibrations from the bowls can help to relax the body, reduce stress and anxiety, and promote a sense of calm.

  2. Tuning forks: Similar to singing bowls, tuning forks are struck to produce a specific pitch or frequency. They are often used to help balance the body's energy centres (chakras) and promote healing.

  3. Gongs: Gongs produce a rich, complex sound that can be used to help balance the body's energy and promote a sense of calm and relaxation.

  4. Voice: Some practitioners use their own voice, either singing or chanting, to produce healing vibrations.

  5. Music: Music therapy is a well-established form of sound healing that uses music to promote healing and well-being.

Sound healing is used to address a wide range of physical, emotional, and spiritual issues, including anxiety, depression, pain, and insomnia. However, it is not intended to replace traditional medical treatments, and it is recommended to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any sound healing practice, especially if you have any medical conditions or are pregnant.
