How to create healthy boundaries?

Creating healthy boundaries can help improve your overall mental and physical health. To create healthy boundaries, start by identifying what types of behaviour are acceptable or unacceptable in certain situations. When setting boundaries, be sure to communicate clearly and consistently with those around you, such as family members, coworkers, or friends. Finally, learn to say “no” when something is not right for you, and be sure to respect the boundaries of others.

When it comes to setting boundaries, it’s important to know your own capacity for giving away your time and energy. You don’t need to say yes right away. Ask yourself, “Do I have the capacity for this right now? Do I have the time?” Perhaps you need to let someone know that you don’t have time right now but you can support him or her tomorrow or later. Learning to be firm and saying no to things becomes important. The more you practice boundaries, the easier it will get. I promise!
